Last Tuesday August 26, a group of students from the UMCE, made a meeting outside the University.
The reason was to show solidarity with mapuche people and to remember Jaime Mendoza Collío, assassinated by a police man in the chilean south when he was recovering the land that the chilean state stolen from their people.

Activists for the liberation of the mapuche people, got together in downtown Santiago to show their rejection to the assassination of Jaime Mendoza Collío. Special Forces of Police attacked the demo so the demo didn’t start. From that time, riots started in a lot of places of Santiago.
The subversive and combative youth shutdown the traffic Grecia Av. in the Cordón Macul to remember Jaime and to say to the police officers: “fuck off” and stop the assassinations in Wallmapu (mapuche territory in this side of america). With molotovs cocktails and stones they confront police.

One year ago, Matías Catrileo -a student as a mapuche activist- was assassinated by chilean police in the south of chile when they were trying to occupy the ground of “Santa Margarita”, which is traditionally claimed as theirs, but now is owned by Jorge Luchsinger latifundary. While in the mapuche people is suffering the repression from the chilean state in the south, in Santiago the youth combatant took the streets again to confront the riot police, the same that have been harassing to woman and children just because they are mapuche, as an act of solidarity.
Patricia Troncoso’s hunger strike became 100 days long. In different places of Santiago people light canddles to show their support to her struggle to get free.
While the meeting was held, a few km away another group of people light up barricades in solidarity with mapuche political prisioners and to protest with the assassination of Matías
Police attacked a bunch of mapuche activists when they get near the house of government, arresting the activists, press and people who had the bad luck of been walking in the zone.
A new demo against the assassionation of Matías Katrileo by the chilean state, in support of Patricia Troncoso who is making a hunger strike to support mapuche political prisioners for more than 85 days and for the desmilitarization of mapuche land.
