I have been away for a couple of months. In Santiago there is a new public transport system called Transantiago. Well, the public transport in Santiago sucked, but this new one is not heaven:
- the pay with cash is deprecated, now you have to buy a card. if you lose the card, you lose all money. if you dont have enough money to buy the card, you don’t travel.
- less buses in the streets, that means, the metro and the buses looks like if we are living in japan. there are places where you don’t have public transport.
- people have to wake up aprox 1 hour before their normal time to get time to catch a bus.
This problems ended in riots in the ghettos of santiago, and several other protests in other places.
People from the Humanist Party and the Communist Party (Proletary Action) demo today in downtown santiago against Transantiago… a few people showed up and now two pictures of it:
