One of the most important squats in santiago, República 550 is going to be evicted in the next days. This house was a place used as a represion center in the Pinochet’s goverment and then the state didnt find a use for the bulding, however the state now wants it and after two years they want to kick out a place where several art collectives make open and free workshops for the community. It’s also the house for the first hacklab in santiago. If you can/want send a solidarity message in their support book. However people’s art and the dreams can’t be evicted.

Students of one of the best public high schools in Santiago took their school to protest against LGE, LOCE, the new penality law for youth and the price of the public transport.

Downtown Santiago hold another demo against the new public transport plan, Transantiago. Around 500 people gathered to protest and walk like for an hour in the Paseo Ahumada Boulevard street. Riot police attacked the croud with water canons when they tried to interrupt the traffic of the Bernardo O’higgins Avenue… but but but no arrests this time

The inhuman conditions of the public transport cost the life of a worker. How? A heart attack provocated by a collapsed subway.

Around 20 people gathered outside the Transports and Telecomunications Ministery to protest against Transantiago and deliver a letter to the current Minister, Sergio Espejo. Police repressed the meeting arresting 5.

I have been away for a couple of months. In Santiago there is a new public transport system called Transantiago. Well, the public transport in Santiago sucked, but this new one is not heaven:

• the pay with cash is deprecated, now you have to buy a card. if you lose the card, you lose all money. if you dont have enough money to buy the card, you don’t travel.
• less buses in the streets, that means, the metro and the buses looks like if we are living in japan. there are places where you don’t have public transport.
• people have to wake up aprox 1 hour before their normal time to get time to catch a bus.

This problems ended in riots in the ghettos of santiago, and several other protests in other places.

People from the Humanist Party and the Communist Party (Proletary Action) demo today in downtown santiago against Transantiago… a few people showed up and now two pictures of it:

A new way of protest was made of people who can’t afford to pay the price of their house to the state or to some banks… they entered at the same time.
