La ya automatizada rutina universitaria se enfrentó cara a cara con varias decenas de jóvenes dispuestos a salir por las puertas del peda y tomarse la calle Macul. Sus gritos y lienzos traían a la memoria a quienes hoy no están con nosotros: Alex, quien fue asesinado por los pacos durante noviembre del 2002. Mauricio, quien pagó con su vida los riesgos que involucra el asumir la guerra en que vivimos. Los compas secuestrados y resistiendo en distintas cárceles. Quienes hoy se encuentran lejos, en fuga, para mantenerse indómitos frente el látigo sometedor de la justicia. Y lamentablemente tantos otros.

To 36 years of the coup d’état, headed by Augusto Pinochet and sponsored bu teh CIA, carried out the pilgrimage towards the general cemetery, to remember all the fallen in dictatorship and to demand judgment and punish the culprit.

The manifestation composed by different organizations of human rights, familiar of disappeared detainees and the left, crossed the streets of Santiago between linens, striped and consigns, to culminate in the memorial to the disappeared detainees.

While the different honorings were realized to the fallen, special forces of carabineros was suppressing the demonstrators with cars that throws waters and tear gas bombs, which were the keynote from the beginning of the march.

36 years ago, on September 11 from 1973, a coup coordinated in the US and made in Chile started 17 years of dictatorship. During that time, several people was assassinated because their political beliefs. After 1990, the elected presidents were back… and the goverment alliance has the executive power since then. After almost 20 years of self-called democracy, we have been seeing several people dying too, and most of the social struggles tried to but shuted down by police and media. After this 20 years we haven’t been able to find social justice, and even the crimes against chilean people during the dictatorship are not been taking seriously by the state.

20 years is just too much time.

The subversive youth decide to break the silence again, they decided to go to the streets to break the quiet of Estación Central, lighting barricades and confronting police. With molotov cocktails, stones, their brains and hopes they tell Chile that there are unsolved issues, and that this apparently peace we are living is just fake. With every molotov they remembered all the people assassinated by the state… with every chant they say “we are here”… with every graffiti they tell the world that the past should not be forget… and with no arrests they say: fuck the police.

In Chile it follows existing detainees of which nobody knows their whereabouts, it still having thousands of executed and tortured without a centimeter justice and in where the state still paying to the torturers for the beautiful services borrowed. It is for this that hundreds of familiar and friends from disappeared detainees and diverse organizations of base marched in the center of Santiago from Italia square until the Plaza de la Cultura carried forward of the Moneda to finish in an act of commemoration of the disappeared detainees day

In an emotive act in the ex torture center “Londres 38″ the group 119 commemorated 34 years from the publication of the list of 119 revolutionary militants murdered and disappeared by the Direction of National Intelligence (DINA), organization created by the dictatorship of Pinochet, for the extermination of left-winger militants, the mentioned operation was known as “Operacion Colombo” and used diverses montages of communication, so much in Chile as abroad to conceal this assassination

With cultural activities, students of the Universidad de Chile remembered all the young combatants killed by the state in the dictatorship and democracy. With the speech of Luisa Toledo (the mother of Eduardo and Rafael) and some hiphop the act was made without any problems… but at the end students of that university made a meeting and shut down the traffic of Grecia Av. Police attacked the demo with tons of tear gas…

2009.03.12 – It’s coming a new anniversary of the assassination of Rafael and Eduardo Vergara Toledo, and the masked youth go to the streets to confront with the number 1 killers of social activists. In the place they made graffitis and throw pamphlets to the air remembering the day of the combatant youth and asking for the freedom of all the political prisoners.

2009.03.12 – It’s coming a new anniversary of the assassination of Rafael and Eduardo Vergara Toledo, and the masked youth go to the streets to confront with the number 1 killers of social activists. In the place they made graffitis and throw pamphlets to the air remembering the day of the combatant youth and asking for the freedom of all the political prisoners.

The call for the rally was made by the Deisappeared detainess families and the subject was justice for them.
